Air Sahara Airlines

Air Sahara or Jetlite is one of the leading private airlines in India. Owned by foremost Sahara India group and headed by Mr Subroto Roy, Air Sahara airline commenced its operations on December 3 with a young fleet of two Boeing 737-200 aircrafts with Delhi and Mumbai as its major hub. Air Sahara was initially named as Sahara Airlines and in the year 2000, it was renamed as Air Sahara although Sahara Airlines remained the carrier's registered name. On 22 March 2004, Air Sahara operated its first international air sahara flight from Chennai to Colombo. The premier Jet Airways acquired Sahara Airlines in April 2007 for a consideration of Rs. 1,450 core, which makes the combined market share of the Indian Aviation Industry to 32 percent. Rechristened as Jetlite, Air Sahara is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Jet Airways India Pvt Ltd. Jetlite / air sahara's main base is Indira Gandhi international airport with hubs at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, and Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai.
